How to play 2048
Use your arrow keys or swipe across the board. All tiles slide in that direction. Two equal tiles that meet combine into one tile worth twice as much. Each tile can merge once per move.
After a move changes the board, a new 2 or 4 appears in an empty space. Merges add the new tile’s value to your score. Reach 2048 to win, then keep playing if you want a bigger challenge.

Is 2048 free to play?
Yes. Every mode on 2048.global is free to play in your browser. No account or payment is required.
Will my progress be saved?
Your game, best score, and preferences are stored in this browser when local storage is available. They are not synced between devices. Clearing site data or using a private browsing session can remove them.
When does the game end?
The game ends when the board is full and no neighboring equal tiles can merge. Reach the 2048 tile to win; you can choose to continue playing afterward.
Which controls can I use?
Use the arrow keys, W/A/S/D, or H/J/K/L on a keyboard. On a touch screen, swipe on the board. Open Settings to adjust the theme or reduce motion.
